Event Details

The American Association for the Advancement of Science invites you to "Reprogramming a Disposable Culture," a panel discussion exploring how scientists, artists, and others are approaching solutions to manage the complex problem of worldwide waste. The event is presented in conjunction with Disposable Culture, a multimedia exhibit featuring 5 artists that reintroduce cast-off items back into our culture through art. Disposable Culture is on display in the AAAS Art Gallery through 30 November.
A diverse panel of experts, including Dr. Alan Hecht, Director for Sustainable Development in the Office of Research and Development at the U.S. EPA; Nick Wigginton, Associate Editor for Science magazine; and photographer Huguette Roe will speak on their work with waste, and the innovative steps being taken to control the issue. The discussion will be followed by an opportunity to view the Disposable Culture exhibit.
